Q&A of the Week (Nov 28, 2011)
Sometimes you don’t need the HR department, just the HR expertise! Due to my schedule, it’s impossible for me to answer each email personally, so I created this page as a resource to answer the most common questions. Here you will find employment, entrepreneur and author responses. Be sure to check the blog page for old Q&A’s that have been removed from this page!
Q. What is the biggest mistake job seekers make when answering the “Why Should I Hire You?” Question during an interview?
A. The biggest mistake they make is FAILING TO ANSWER THE QUESTION! Many times job seekers will sound off the standard buzzwords such as: Hardworking, Dependable, Result-Oriented, Team Player and Fast Learner. Which is all subjective and not an answer. Job seekers miss the mark because this is a point blank question which deserves a point blank response. While you have the employers undivided attention; tell them EXACTLY why they should hire you!
